Curlew and Sandpiper

The photos of the Curlew and the Sanpiper were taken during the National Waterfowl Count on November 12th.

The Eurasian Curlew (Numenius arquata – Grosser Brachvogel) is mostly a migrant in Switzerland. There are some breeding couples left and some who stay over winter (photo).

The Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos – Flussuferläufer) is rather rare too.
